Workplace Health - No Smoking In The Office

If you are keen on maintaining good workplace health, it is important to take effective measures to stop smoking. This is the best way to keep the environment smoke free and healthy. This is not a difficult task as most people assume it to be.

There are numerous options available on the market in this regard. Some of the basic techniques include hypnosis, drugs, therapies and specialized classes.

This is the best way to get rid of smokers and chewers from your organization. There is no requirement to revolt or throw people out of jobs.

There are many things your company can provide in order to help employees quite smoking. Researchers have shown that more than one session for smoking cessation may not work for employees.

Too many sessions offered to smokers will make confuse them and make them revolt against these programs.

Another important thing to do is to keep yourself away from charging anything from employees for smoking cessation programs.

Best results can be obtained only when one focuses on making certain important behavioural changes. This can be both physical and psychological. It would be vital to give about 6 weeks of time to your employees to prepare for the smoking cessation program.

Understand that almost all smokers require some time to detoxify and eliminate harmful nicotine from their body. Changes are required in their routines, behaviour and lifestyle. It will take about at least 21 days for nicotine smokers and chewers to break the habit and lead a normal life.

There are several ways in which you can encourage your employees to take smoking cessation sessions. The task may seem to be a little difficult but with little patience you can emerge as a winner and make your office a smoke free zone.

Most smokers are not keen on attending these programs. Hence, they make excuses such as lack of money and time. You motive should not be to listen to these excuses but to negate and contradict them with something that is impossible for them to deny.

Nicotine cessation drugs and classes are of great help in this regard. You can easily run classes on-site without any problem. These can be run during lunch hours or on weekends to avoid disturbance at work.
Nicotine patches are also available on the market these days.

These are known to be very effective in allowing smokers and chewers to get rid of the problem effectively. Some companies decide on paying 100 percent to offer smoking cessation for their employees.

However, this may not be a solution because employees do not feel responsible where they have not invested their hard earned money. The best thing to do here would be to create an investment program in such a way that your employees would pay about 30-40 percent of the total costs of the smoking cessation program.

This will help you get the best out of this program. Employees will feel more responsible because they have invested a part of their money too.
