It has been many decades that women have been finding relief in caffeine from daily life pressures and depression. This has also been their best friend under health conditions such as headaches, migraines and other problems.

Now the question that arises in the mind of health conscious modern women is how good caffeine is for their health. They want to know about the side effects they may face due to regular consumption of caffeine.

There is no doubt that caffeine has detrimental effects on health of individual. Women are more vulnerable to bad effects of caffeine on health. These effects may vary from one woman to the other. This will usually depend on the tolerance power of an individual for a specific drug.

These effects are also gender-specific. The most adverse effect of caffeine on women is during pregnancy. The problem is that women are used to drinking coffee at work. This offers them temporary relief from stress and work pressure in the office.

However, they do not realize the after effects coffee on their unborn child. Consumption of caffeine in moderate amounts will not harm the baby.

This amount should not exceed 200mg in a day. More than 300mg caffeine on a daily basis increases the chances of miscarriage.

Fetal complications are also common. Since caffeine is a powerful stimulant, it is capable of causing nervousness. Other problems related to consumption of caffeine include headaches and irritability.

Iron deficiency is also a common problem experienced by women due to caffeine consumption through tea and coffee during pregnancy.

The compounds present in caffeine restrict your body to absorb adequate iron. Cutting back on iron is the only solution here.

Here is a list of some of the most important side effects of caffeine consumption in women:

* Caffeine can make your heart beat in an abnormal fashion. This is quite harmful for those with high blood pressure. Women with history of heart problems should also stay away from caffeine as far as possible.

* Caffeine is capable of constricting blood vessels of brain and cause severe headaches.

* Caffeine is considered to be a strong diuretic. This causes dehydration in the body. This condition is usually characterized by fatigue.

* Tremors can be experienced after consumption of coffee. This is because caffeine tends to over activate central nervous system.

* Consumption of a cup of caffeine on a daily basis reduces your chances of getting pregnant to almost half as compared to those who do not consume coffee at all.

* Caffeine consumption can also be responsible for many problems including stiffness of joints, jaw, shoulders, legs, stomach etc.

* Caffeine consumption is responsible for mood swings.

* Coldness in extremities can be experienced due to caffeine introduction to body.

* Women who take caffeine regularly may wake up in the morning feeling tired.

* Caffeine is also a common cause for insomnia.

With so many side effects of caffeine on your body, it would be wise to stay away from it as far as possible.
