The Negative Effects Of Tobacco On Women

Tobacco has always been known for its negative effects on health. Human beings have been introducing harmful tobacco in their bodies via smoking. Unfortunately, this practise has become more common among women for the past few decades.

Women are known to get addicted to smoking more as compared to men. There are many reasons behind women taking to smoking.

Most of the time, they are unable to cope up with stress, depression and excessive societal pressures. This makes them find relief via consumption of tobacco.

The practise usually starts with an occasional puff here and there. This becomes more than a hobby and finally takes shape of addiction.

According to a research, it has been proved that women smoke earlier than men. The research has also concluded that most women smokers across the globe have tried their first cigarette between the age of 14 and 16. This is really unfortunate but true.

Cigarette smoking is injurious to health because it passes from the lungs and travels to the brain within ten seconds.

The process carries faster tobacco as compared to any of the intravenous injection consisting of illicit drugs. Most women do not realize that cigarettes send more than about four thousand harmful chemicals to the body.

There are many harmful effects of tobacco on woman’s health in general.

Here is an overview of how tobacco consumption can result in women’s health problems:


Gynecological Problems

Smoking has adverse effects on women’s health because it decreases estrogen secretion in the body. This may result in serious problems such as menstrual disorders, hoarse voice, and increase of hairs in the body. Women who smoke regularly may have to experience early menopause as compared to non smokers.

Risk of hot flashes is known to be more intense among smokers. Tobacco intake also increases risk of osteoporosis and precancerous lesions development in the cervix.

Skin Problems

Tobacco intake results in absence of skin oxygenation. Usually, smokers have dull complexion. The skin also loses its natural glow and radiance. Premature wrinkles are also a common problem experienced by women who smoke regularly. The practise may damage vital collagen and elastin in the body.

The pill

Women taking contraceptive smoke and aged between 20 and 44 are at greater risk of developing cardiovascular problems. It is very risky to combine contraceptive pill with tobacco.

This may prove fatal. Nicotine promotes fat deposition in the blood vessels and damages arteries. Risk of stroke, thrombosis and stroke increases with thickening of blood.

Pregnancy

Smoking will decrease fertility rate by almost 50 percent in women. The reason is that tobacco consumption thickens cervical mucus.

This prevents progression of sperm. Decrease of lack of vital estrogen decreases uterine wall quality and restrict flow of blood requisite egg implantation. Risk of miscarriage also increases with smoking.

With so many health risks associated to tobacco, kit would be wise to stay away from smoking. This is the best way to ensure healthy life and fit body.
