Caffeine intake: Myths and facts

Coffee is one of the most enjoyed beverages by millions of people across the globe. It provides good amount of kick for people to start off with their daily regime.

From green to black and white, tea and caffeine has been savored by most people across the globe for more than 5,000 years now coffee was introduced later and has been relished by people only for 4000 years now.

There are several myths associated with caffeine. Here, we will discuss about some of the most common myths associate with this most savored drink across the globe.

Myth 1: Effects of caffeine are addictive

Fact: A lot of people complain that they are addicted to caffeine. The addiction is quite similar to what people experience for their addition to work, shopping or television. However this is not quite true when it comes to dependence of people on caffeine.

According to the reports and researches conducted by world health organization, the physical and social consequences of caffeine abuse has no evidence.

Myth 2: Caffeine has bad effects on the health of pregnant women

Fact: Caffeine when taken by pregnant women in moderation does not affect the health of feotus or mother. Moderate amount of coffee will definitely have no effects on the health of mother-to-be and infant .

Myth 3: Caffeine intake can pose osteoporosis risk

Fact: The main reason behind high osteoporosis risk is lack of calcium and vitamin D diet.

Excess smoking, early onset of  menopause, low body weight, low estrogen levels, and insufficient high protein diets can result in osteoporosis risk. Caffeine is small to moderate amounts will not deplete your body of calcium.

Myth: Caffeine can trigger heart disease

Fact: Studies and researches by scientists have proved the fact that caffeine intake has no effect at all on body’s cholesterol levels, blood pressure and heart disease risk.

Only unfiltered and unboiled caffeine can elevate cholesterol levels in the body.

Myth: Caffeine intake can cause cancer

Fact: Many studies and experiments have proved that caffeine poses no risk factor for cancer.

All the above stated myths and facts suggest that limited intake of caffeine do not result in any kind of health risks.

So it is absolutely safe to enjoy your early morning cup of coffee. However, make sure that you do not exceed your consumption.
