Vegetarian Diet: The Key to Good Health

According to Albert Einstein, “Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.”

A vegetarian diet refers to the belief or the practice of consuming simple vegetarian dishes, and refraining from animal dishes.

A vegetarian diet consists of eatables like vegetables, fruits, dried peas and beans, seeds and nuts as well as grains.

Different types of vegetarian diet

The Vegetarian diet is not made up of a single dietary plan. It is broadly categorised into different groups. The pattern of vegetarian dishes can be more or less categorised under the following three groups:

* Vegan diet: this king of vegetarian diet plan excludes from it all kinds of meat or animal products.

* Lacto vegetarian diet: this kind of vegetarian dietary habit mainly consists of dairy products and plant foods.

* Lacto ovo vegetarian diet: this kind of dietary plan mainly consist of eggs and dairy products.
Ways to balance a vegetarian diet

Some people prefer to have a vegetarian diet owing to religion, conscience or simply due to health issues. No matter whatever the reason is health, religion, preference or simply conscience, vegetarian diet is slowly gaining popularity among all.

It is also rather easy to maintain a vegetarian dish with a number of vegetarian foods as well as cookbooks available on it.

A good balanced vegetarian diet works a great deal in assuring you a great health but it is essential to keep an eye on your dietary plan because otherwise it may completely ruin your health.

Some tips that would help you to maintain a balanced diet

Vegetarian diets were earlier considered to be lacking in certain nutritional needs. A simple act of having a balanced diet is sure to cope with this lack.

* Pulses form an important part of vegetarian dishes. Pulses contain only 30% of the protein content and lack amino acids. In order to compensate for it, you can add tofu to your diet. Since tofu is partly fermented, it is can also be very easily digested.

Furthermore, tofu is extremely rich in protein. Apart from tofu, it is also advisable to consume pulses in order to maintain a wholesome and balanced vegetarian diet.

* Vegetarian diets are significantly deficient in Vitamin B12. This loss can be made up for very easily by consuming yeast or by taking multi vitamin capsules.

* Vegetarian dishes must contain calcium rich foods. You can add foods like soya, broccoli, or turnip in your diet in order to have a balanced calcium rich diet.

* Some people also suffer from deficiency of iron. This trend is more common with women as compared with men. This is usually caused by an incomplete diet. In order to avoid being anemic, raisins, leafy vegetables, or citrus fruits can be added to the dietary plan.

Conclusion

A balanced vegetarian diet simply means having the right type of nutritional dishes and substituting the energy and protein rich foods with plant foods.

A vegetarian diet is capable of providing with all the nutrients, minerals, and vitamins essential for your body but the only pre requisite behind it is to plan it well!
