Using Feng Shui to Pick the best Bedroom Colors For your Kids

According to feng shui, you need to follow a specific set of rules and guidelines while painting a bedroom for kids so that they feel happy and comfortable in their surroundings, as colors play an important role in affecting the mood of the person living in the room.

Feng shui demands that a child’s room be painted in warm earthy colors like warm yellow, terracotta or light oranges, as these are supposed make the kids feel safe. Cold colors like shades of gray or blue should be avoided since they can bring about feelings of insecurity.

Light and relaxing colors like light oranges and beiges can help balance the restlessness of active children. Warm yellow or orange can help in balancing the personalities of quiet children.

Not only the walls but, the furniture too should be taken into consideration for creating a balanced effect. Do not use something that is too brightly colored.

The decoration should be pleasant and in soothing colors. You should not use too many patterns or colors and try to keep things solid or simple.

While painting a room for a new born baby, you must choose a light color scheme as their sensory skills may get confused if strong primary colors are used. Take a look at the list below', enumerating what each of the colors stand for to choose the best color and shade for the best effect.

Warm colors are great to use in kids’ rooms as they can represent intimacy, warmth and relaxation. They create a sense of comfort and closeness for the user.

However, you must be careful while using intense warm colors like deep oranges and reds as they excite and stimulate the user and are associated with danger, tension and anger.

In fact, they add a sparkle when used to counterbalance the neutral. Soft oranges provide a warm, satisfying and welcoming effect, adding energy to the bedroom.

A warm color is best suited to a warm and affectionate child who loves to read and relax in his/her room.

Cool colors or blue based colors have a soothing and calming effect, as they often signify loyalty, peace, harmony, sensitivity, depth of feeling, wisdom, stability and confidence. However, intensely cool or dark blues sometimes can draw away your kids from other people.

Light colors like blue-violet, light blue, white and blue green give out a calming effect, and in fact, make the room look more elegant and spacious.

Earthy or ground colors like browns, beige and grays are a great choice for hyperactive children as they promote a sense of relaxation, comfort and warmth. Muted ground colors do a great job of calming them down.

It is best to use the color black sparingly (or not use it at all) while painting a child’s room as it represents despair, darkness, mourning and sorrow in traditional terms.

In fact, it is even associated with death. Large proportions of the color black can absorb light and generate depression, zapping all of your child’s energy.

If teens want to use black to increase the element of mystery, it should be used in the form of some accessory or accent.

White symbolizes faith, joy, peace, purity and cleanliness. In fact, white makes rooms appear larger and spacious.

The color green can reinforce self esteem as it suggests restfulness, hope and calmness. However, a really dark shade of green should not be used.

Purple is a powerful but risky color, as it combines red’s energy and blue’s stability. It not only signifies power, justice, royalty and luxury, but also suffering and depression. It is best to use light purple.
