Why a Food Combining Diet?

You must love your food, or why else will you be looking for a diet chart? This being said, you must have tried other charts earlier also. However, most of these just do not work, do they? They only seem to stop you from indulge in your favorite Irish coffee or French fries, making you crave for it even more. So, what else can be done? The solution is to follow a food combining diet.

What is a Food Combining Diet?

The food combining diet has been around fro quite a long time, being introduced in the early nineteenth century. Combining your food properly can help to get rid of the horrors of body fat. A food combining diet is based on the fact that food groups when eaten in specific combinations are optimally digested.

If your plate has the right mix, there is a slim chance that you will overeat or put on extra pounds. Nutrients should be combined harmoniously. Having a glass of lukewarm water with half a lemon works wonders in killing fat.

What are the Combinations that Work?

Take a look at how can be food the grouped so that it maintains the body weight without depriving you of a sumptuous meal.

Proteins such as nuts, seeds, beans, poultry, fish, meat etc. and starches such as pasta, grains, breads, carrots, cereal etc should not be eaten together. Both of these can be taken separately with vegetables. Fruits must be eaten alone. Apples, for instance, help in reducing weight by burning fat.

Proteins are best kept away from acids, carbohydrates, sugar, or fat. Never combine these in single meal. However, there is no way out but to forego your precious dessert. After a proper meal, desserts are hardly digested and hence, should be avoided.

Diabetics are advised to combined fruits and root vegetables with other foods to avoid a sharp rise in blood sugar level. However, they cannot be fully eliminated from the meals are they also contain essential vitamins and minerals.

Strict vegetarians should combine grains and beans for complete proteins, not necessarily at the same meal. Dairy products and meat have nine essential amino acids where as grains and beans have a maximum of two and a minimum of two. Amino acids are used by the body as and when needed and hence regular supplies are not required.

The worst combination ever is the one with both fats and carbohydrates. This is the one that leads to weight gain.

A Myth

According to some people if your system fails to digest the nutrients from the food properly, the undigested food ferments, putrefies, and leads to accumulation of toxins in the body. However, the fact is far from that. Your intestines do a great job of breaking down the proteins, fats, and carbohydrates.

Moreover, it is impossible for the undigested food to make you fat as for this the intestines will have to break the food into the building blocks of fat and pass them into the blood stream. The undigested food in your body will always be excreted unless you suffer from constipation. People following baseless rules usually lose weight because in their effort to limit their food intake, they end up consuming fewer calories as well.
