Adverse Reactions of Tattoos

Tattoos have been around for more than centuries now. Egyptians, Europeans, Maoris and Red Indian loved sporting these marks. However, this does not mean that tattoos are perfectly fine for the skin. There are people who have complained of adverse reactions due to tattoos and inks on their body.

Hence it is important to know about these reactions before actually receiving them on your body. This article will enlighten you about various adverse reactions of tattoos on body. Here are some of the most common adverse reactions of tattoo on human body:


* Infections

This is one of the most common adverse reactions of tattoos. This usually occurs due to unhygienic conditions of a tattoo studio or improper sanitation procedures used by the artist. The FDA does not keep tabs on tattooing.

No specific regulations are made to check how well these procedures go.  Risk of infection is greater due to improper sterilization.

There are many side effects. Hepatitis C is one of the most common diseases that are caused due to infection from tattoo.

This is a type of blood borne disease that spreads due to sharing tattoo needle with infected individuals. Other serious infections include liver infections, cirrhosis, liver failure, and liver cancer.

Allergy


Allergic reactions are also very common while tattooing. Certain shades of inks can cause serious allergies and reactions on the skin. Hence, it would be wise to know about these pigments in detail prior to getting a tattoo done on your body.


Inflammation and Irritation on Skin

Tattoo ink labels and brands are not very reliable. There is no guarantee that the manufacturers follow certain guidelines to create skin friendly pigments.

Sometimes non approved pigments are used for tattoo ink such as printers' ink, car paint etc. basically, the level of degree of the allergy depends on body type of a person. Usually these problems can be treated via counter medicines. However, in some cases these reactions can cause serious effects.

Granulomas

This is a stage where body perceives tattoos as a foreign object. As a defense mechanism, it creates nodules around it. Nodules can also be referred to as protuberances in shape of small knots. These are made up of a tissue mass or aggregation of cells

Keloid

This is a stage when scars grow beyond natural boundaries. This is more common during removal of tattoo.

Tattoos may look really attractive. However, these colorful tattoos are not just beautiful symbols on bodies.


These can be really hazardous. You may end up suffering from the infections and skin problems stated above. Sometimes the reactions of tattoos can be deadly. 

There are many precautions that can be taken in order to stay away from these infections and adverse reactions of getting your body inked. The most important thing to do is to take care of sanitary conditions and hygiene. The tattoo studio you choose should be reputed and clean.
