Massage Therapy: Some Embarrassing Questions Associated to Massage

Massage therapy has attained huge popularity among people across the globe these days. There are several reasons behind this. One of the main reasons is the amazing therapeutic properties of massage and huge benefits it comes with.

However, massage can also be embarrassing due to some embarrassing questions attached to it. People have many doubts and concerns about the therapy that becomes very embarrassing for them to clear with their therapist. Here are some of the top most embarrassing questions that have been related to a typical massage therapy for a long time.

Embarrassing Question 1: Should I tip the massage therapist?

This is one of the most common doubts people have in their minds when they go for a massage session.

They are too embarrassed to leave the massage site without tipping the therapist. Worse, they are more embarrassed to straightaway tip the therapist as they fell that they may hurt the therapist’s ego.

Well, understanding the process of tip is no rocket science. It depends on the place where you get the massage done.

In case, you get a massage at a hotel or spa, you should give about 15 percent tip if you are happy with the services. If you are getting the massage done at a medical setting, there are no specific rules for tipping the therapist.

This should be avoided as far as possible because tipping in a medical setting is not found appropriate. If you are unsure about the tipping system at a particular setting, try asking whether it is customary to pay tip to the therapist. Try calling ahead to avoid the embarrassment of speaking face to face.

Embarrassing Question 2: Should I go nude during the session?

This is by far one of the most embarrassing question people have in their minds related to a massage therapy. Many prefer not to take their panties or briefs off during a therapy. However there are others who do not mind going completely nude.

It is entirely up to you. However, if you have problem with certain areas of your body such as hips, lower back, buttocks, groin, etc putting the underwear on may interfere the process of massage work.

However, women can keep wearing their thong and men may put their briefs on to avoid any interruption.

Embarrassing Question 3: Should I undress in front of the therapist?

You can ask the massage therapist to leave the room if you do not feel comfortable removing your clothing in front of him/her. Do not rush in to taking your clothes off as the therapist will always knock the door before entering the massage room.

Embarrassing Question 4: What if I get an erection during the session?

There are many men who do get massage therapy because they worry about getting an erection. However, there is nothing to get embarrassed in this.

It is normal for men to get erection during the therapy even if it is a simple therapeutic massage.

Gentle touch on any area of human body can trigger the parasympathetic nervous system. This results in part or full erection.

The massage therapist is experienced and educated enough to understand this. He/she will ignore it. Try wearing a men's bikini to get better support.

Embarrassing Question 5: Should I talk during the therapy?

This is entirely up to you. You can talk if you are comfortable at it.
