Thai Massage: All About the Therapeutic Thai Massage

Thai massage is one of the most popular types of massages across the globe. This is a type of massage that involves deep massage and stretching.

Thai massage is also believed to have been originated under the guidance of Buddha’s physician Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha more than 2,500 years ago.

The massage was developed in India. The massage reached Thailand. This is where the Ayurvedic techniques got influenced by customary Chinese medicine. For many centuries, Thai massage was solely performed by monks. This was carried out as an integral part of Thai medicine.

The Thai massage is followed in typical Thai style. This type of massage is usually carried out on the floor. The client requires wearing comfortable clothes.

This is not a typical massage that involves oils. A Thai massage is done without oils. The art is new to most of the spas.

However, the technique is not new. Thai massage was developed by ancient Buddhist monks from Thailand. It was used as a healing modality.

The practice is almost twenty five years old. Thai massage utilizes passive stretching in conjunction with gentle pressure by the side of the body’s energy lines.

This is done to enhance the flexibility of the body. Other benefits include relieved muscles and joint tension.

The energy system of the body is also balanced. Thai massage is known to be quite relaxing and revitalizing.

Thai massage must take place on a futon mat laid on the floor. The client must wear loose, comfortable clothing. Most of the spas offer special robes for the massage.

You can also wear what comforts you such as loose pants; sweat shirts etc. The process starts with the client lying on his back.

When the client is ready, the therapist utilizes gentle compression combined with special stretching techniques. This is done to open up the body. The massage starts with the legs.

Thai massage is done with clothes on. The therapist utilizes his/her whole body to move your body into different positions the massage.

This massage is more intimate as compared to a Swedish massage where you require lying on a massage table covered with sheets.

Thai massage is known widely across the globe for its connection with a spiritual tradition and principle of healing physically, spiritually and emotionally. However, the massage should not be confused with sensual or sexual massage.

Thai massage is known to be the most refreshing and rigorous types of classic types of massage. Thai massage is also referred to as Thai yoga massage.

This is because the therapist utilizes his/her knees, hands, legs, and feet to move the client into a whole series of stretches usually used in yoga.

This is also the reason that most people during a Thai massage feel that they are doing yoga sans any effort on their part.

The following techniques are utilized during the massage therapy:

* Muscle compression
* Joint mobilization
* Acupressure

A typical Thai massage is known to run for about sixty minutes to two hours at stretch.

Here are some of the benefits you can enjoy during the massage:

* Relaxation
* Stress Reduction
* Enhanced Circulation
* Improved Energy
* Improved Flexibility
* Improved range of motion
* Relaxes Mind and Body
