A Guide to the Results Caused by Lower Intake of Vitamins

Vitamins and minerals perform an extremely important role in giving us a healthy body and allow our body to function properly.

No matter how balanced your diet is you may tend to miss on a few minerals and vitamins that are high on nutrients.

Although it is advisable to concentrate more on the intake of a healthy diet rather than taking in pills, you can resort to the latter in case you feel that you are not having enough of the required vitamins and minerals essential for your body.

Taking multi vitamin tablets are also advised at times, as food consumed by you may not have all the necessary vitamins and nutrients required by your body.

While growing children are usually administered with multi vitamin capsules in order to ensure proper functioning of their body, octogenarians as well as adults are also given these capsules in order to ensure better health and proper functioning of all the organs of the body.

Similarly, people suffering from a few ailments are also given multi vitamin capsules to fight against a few diseases like the common cold.

Vitamin deficiency


Minerals and vitamins are essential to keep ourselves healthy as that maintains different organs of our body and ensures the proper functioning of it. However, when people fail to get essential nutrition from the vegetables that they take in regularly, one tends to develop a few health complications that can be the cause of a major or a minor problem.

Health complications can develop in the form of abdominal pain, brittle bones, edema that is characterized by swellings and inflammation, infections in blood, eye or respiratory organs, weakness in the muscle, skin lesions, blindness, depression, bleeding, and insomnia as well nerve damage.

Remember that the side effects or symptoms that you tend to develop in cases of vitamin deficiency usually depend on your gender, age, as well as your general health condition.

For example, in case you are suffering from chronic health problems like diabetes or asthma, vitamin deficiencies may lead to a far serious health condition compared to people who are not suffering of any underlying health issues.

However, if vitamin deficiencies are not treated, it may lead to serious ailments or even death no matter what your age group or your current health condition is.

Overdose of Dietary or Vitamin Supplements


Just as vitamin deficiencies are instrumental in leading to a variety of health issues, similarly, intake of a higher dose of the multi vitamin capsules can also lead to health problems, especially if they are continued for a long period.

Remember that the effect of water-soluble vitamins tend to be different from the effect of the fat-soluble vitamins. For example, excessive intake of water-soluble vitamins like Vitamin B and Vitamin C would be excreted by the body, whereas fat soluble vitamins like Vitamin D gets accumulated in the body, especially in the liver.

In case this overdose continues for a prolonged period, the fat-soluble vitamins can lead to serious damage to your liver. Other health complications can also develop because of overdose is manifested in the form of blood clots, diarrhea, nausea, nerve damage, vomiting, development of rashes and fatigue.

Vitamins provide your body with the necessary amount of nutrition. It is essential to provide your body with the required level of nutrition and it is advisable to resort from both excessive as well as too little usage of it, as both are highly injurious to health.
