CoQ10- A New Ray of Hope in the Dark World of Diseases

What is CoQ10?

CoQ10 is a substance that is formed in every cell of the body in a natural process. It has an alternate name, ubiquinone, which is derived from the word ubiquitous that means “found everywhere.” This enzyme has the responsibility of producing energy in the mitochondrion, thus providing energy for each organismic process.

It also acts as an antioxidant, helping to subdue the free radicals in the body that are responsible for cell mutation and death. Since we live in a world full of pollution, we are in constant need of antioxidants that will scavenge and get rid of all the free radicals from our body.

Vitamins, enzymes, antioxidants all have a role to play in maintaining health.

The greatest remedy for all maladies lies in nature. Although CoQ10 can be gained by consuming food like meats such as beef or chicken, nuts and seeds such as peanuts and sesame seeds, and vegetables such as broccoli or cauliflower, it is possible that due to over processing and the use of additives and pesticides the natural nutrition levels are reduced.

So, to maintain health, it is better to take supplementary tablets.

Functions of CoQ10 in heart as well as some other areas

* CoQ10 improves one’s heart function, boosts cellular energy production and prevents heart disease.

This Coenzyme Q10 is used to fight early stages of congestive heart failure and heart diseases in Japan and Europe.

It has found its way to United States and beginning to gain recognition in the war against cardiovascular diseases. It has also proven effective against angina.

* Energy from raw materials which are sent into the mitochondria of body cells is taken by CoQ10. Sometimes, oxygen molecule loses an electron and becomes charged.

Therefore it results in oxygen free radical and can be destructive to the membranes of each cell. As CoQ10 acts as an antioxidant, it helps to prevent and protect one’s body against this damage.

By too much free radical production, disease such as ALS is often made worse and damage occurs because of mitochondrial abnormalities. According to some experts, CoQ10 provides a buffer zone to protect against oxidative stress.

* The body’s supply of CoQ10 decreases as one gets older. Decrease in dopamine production in the brain is prevented by the help of this enzyme.

As this enzyme prevents the reduction of dopamine production; it provides one with a special anti aging effect by preserving neurological functions. Aging process is slowed down with this enzyme and it also protects against periodontal disease.

* CoQ10 can help to combat fatigue, as well as obesity and a weak immune system such as those with HIV, other viruses, and yeast infections. Early studies showed that it may also increase sperm motility, leading to enhanced fertility.

CoQ10 helps to focus on tasks at hand and levels of motivation and productivity are increased.

* A combination of CoQ10 and vitamin E may turn out to be helpful in combating free radical damage associated with Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease and other degenerative brain diseases.

Conclusion

CoQ10 has not been found to have any side-effects till now. It is also quite easily obtainable at most stores.

If one’s therapy is going on for certain disease, it is always better to take supplementary CoQ10 tablets side by side. It may just increase one’s chances of getting cured sooner.
