Best Diet during Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a phase in a woman’s life when she needs to be extra conscious about what she eats. This is because the diet plans she follows can make a huge difference to her as well as the health of the baby. The food you eat during pregnancy is the primary source of energy for the fetus that grows inside you.

Understand that you are not just responsible for your own health but for the health of your baby. You need to take special care of the baby that is growing inside you. It needs extra care and nutrition.

Here are some tips that you require following during pregnancy to ensure good health of you and your baby.

Tip One: No Special Diet

Understand that there is no special diet for pregnant woman. All you require doing is to focus on eating well. A healthy, well balanced diet is a must during this phase of your life.

The focus should be on giving all the nutrition to the body that it requires. The vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates and starch should be taken in good proportion to ensure good health of the baby.  

Tip Two:
First 3 Months

Special care should be taken during the first three months of the pregnancy. This is a stage where you should include good amount of folic acid, iron, and foods high in calcium. This also means that you need to take supplements for iron and folic acid.

Tip Three: Folic Acid

Pregnant women should get adequate amount of folic acid. This works towards preventing many major birth related defects that involves brain of the baby or spine. This is also the reason that gynecologists recommend supplements folic acid during pregnancy and lactation period.

Tip Four: Green Vegetables

It is very important to include leafy green vegetables in your diet during pregnancy. These are rich in iron and will offer many nutrients to the baby and assist in its healthy development.

Tip Five: Dairy Products

Most women do not realize the importance of including dairy products during pregnancy. During the period of 3 to 6 months of pregnancy, the woman requires additional protein and calcium.

It is also important to look for foods that are rich in protein such as soya products, cottage cheese, milk, yogurt and a lot more.

Tip Six: Healthy Weight Gain

It is normal for a woman to gain anywhere between 10-15 kgs during pregnancy. However, it is important to avoid extra weight gain. This may lead to many health complications. In order to avoid extra weight gain, it is important to avoid a lot of sugary products and fried stuff in your diet.

Tip Seven: Don’t Eat for Two

Most women are under a wrong notion that they need to eat for two during pregnancy. All one requires is to focus on having 200-300 additional during pregnancy on a daily basis.
