MILAN FASHION WEEK FOR FW13: DRAMA AND PUNK NOTES

After the prêt-à-porter „revolution" from New York and London, came the turn of Italians to show off their majesty in cuts and fabrics that will impose the urban fashion trends for this year.

The Milan Fashion Week brought into the spotlights the creations signed by Prada, Fendi and Gucci.

The Italian designers directed their own movie dedicated to fabrics, in which romanticism and elegance enveloped the catwalk and brought in the first line voluptuous silhouettes and dramatic accents.

"The differences between the event from London and Italian trends resumes at the heels' height and not the dresses' length.

The flat ballerinas, the low shoes and the masculine inspired apparels correspond with the ones from the British capital. In Italy, the fashion's story takes another shape", writes down Simon Chilvers for The Guardian.

The femmes fatales defile for Gucci "Fetish" was the word that described best the items signed by Frida Giannini, the Creative Director of the Italian fashion house.

"The Gucci woman seduces through the dramatic air that she shows off", she explained. The accessories were inspired by the aggressive aesthetics of which ambassador is no one else than sculptor Jones Allen.

"The art promoted by him bets on gothic, rough accents", she added.

Sex and extravagance sell everything
Still, for having a guaranteed success, mystery and some reserves must be included in the marketing planning and the director from Gucci understood this perfectly
.

The transparent dresses, the feathers and the cuts that promoted the nude were exposed along with the simple apparels, such as the pencil skirt and the high-waisted trousers.

At Milan, the Gucci line was synonym with a blend of fabrics, colors and styles.

The key to success was safe, as the avangarde and classicism went hand in hand.

Punk and fur for Fendi

Another collection that defied the fashion canons and gave up on prudence or simplicity was the line created for Fendi by Karl Lagerfeld
.

"The atmosphere of the show was a mystique one with tribal influences", explained the fashion Editor Lisa Armstrong. Lagerfel went on the hypothesis that in fashion there are no half measures and managed to bring on the Milan catwalk, just like in 2012, dresses and coats inspired from the wilderness.

Fragility hasn't found its correspondent in the items created by Fendi because the fur apparels, the leather and punk accents were the key words of the collection.

The message from the Kaiser of fashion was a clear one: luxury and eccentricity will dictate the cosmopolite trends of this year.

50s at Prada

"The thought that comes in my head when I create a new collection is the way in which political principles decide what I have to do. You can't be too romantic or too feminine… everything must have a note of naughtiness"
, said Miuccia Prada, the designer of the fashion house.

"Prada has tried to create an intimate relationship between clothes and femininity and brought on the catwalk from Milan the elegance specific to the 50s", described the fashion editor Lisa Armstrong. The theme of the show outlined the pure beauty and raw elegance. Supermodels with a wet hair defiled in vintage apparels inspired by a free fashion, with loose items."

I wanted everything to look a bit decaying, so that the clothes don't seem too expensive or exclusivist", concluded Miuccia Prada.
